Mathematics and Science Support Classes

In 2024, the AlZahra Support Association had the privilege of organising mathematics and science support classes at the Granville Centre, specifically designed for newly arrived children in the Cumberland NSW area of Australia. Concurrently, the parents of these children benefited from yoga and parenting classes, conducted by experienced instructors from the Alzahra Support Association.

We were fortunate to have the support of the Cumberland City Council, who generously funded these programs. The launch event was further honoured by the esteemed presence of Ola Hamed, the Mayor of Cumberland, and Julia Finn MP, a Member of Parliament.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Cumberland Council for their invaluable financial support, which has greatly contributed to addressing the essential needs of Australia’s multicultural community.

mathematics and science support classes

The Alzahra Support Association successfully completed its mathematics and science support classes for children, as well as its yoga and parenting classes for their parents, on December 7, 2024.

On the closing day, Fatima Ahmadzai, one of the children speaking on behalf of others, expressed how beneficial these classes were for improving their studies and requested that these programs continue. Additionally, Wahida Farzan, one of the mothers, spoke on behalf of other mothers about her experience in the classes, emphasizing how these sessions had improved her relationships with her children and family members.

The closing ceremony was honoured by the presence of leaders from various communities and cultures, including representatives from the Sydney Alliance, the Community Forum, the Blue Mountains East Timor Sisters, the Cultural Diversity Network Inc, the Uniting Church, Migrants, Homa Media, the Hazara Encyclopedia, Kateb Hazara, STARTTS, DAI, Rouse Hill Baptist Church, and others. Their presence at the event served as a symbol of the strength of solidarity and unity. It is only through collective cooperation and participation that we can bring about more significant and lasting positive changes in society. This unity plays a crucial and fundamental role not only in empowering individuals but also in enhancing the overall well-being of society, particularly for women and girls. On this occasion, speeches were delivered on the importance of education, the pivotal role of mothers and parents within the family, and the need for collaboration across communities.

During the event, the singing and music performance by the young artist Hatif Heydari added a special and delightful atmosphere to the program. Additionally, artist Amira Hosseini’s Daf performance enhanced the beauty of the ceremony.

In this program, both the children and parents received certificates, and the children also received stationery as a token of appreciation for their participation.

At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to connect while enjoying a meal.

This event provided an opportunity to recognise the collective efforts and effective collaborations that contributed to the success of these programs.

We sincerely thank all the active and professional members of the Alzahra Support Association for their tireless efforts that led to the success of these programs.

We hope that with continued collaboration, we can take meaningful steps toward empowering the multicultural community in Australia and create lasting positive changes.

We appreciate Cumberland City Council for financially supporting these programs, which address the essential needs of Australia’s multicultural community.
